A while back there was a map showing the languages spoken in London according to Twitter. The same has recently been done for Melbourne. The map show tweets collected across the city from November 2012 to March 2013. You can drill down to see the breakdown of the languages in specific regions as well as looking into particular suburbs.
In the full-screen version, you can also enter an address to see what languages are being used in your area.
